What does the future hold?
Badenoch & Clark commissioned Legal Week Intelligence to survey its readership on the future of the law in the light of various issues impacting upon the profession – Legal Services Act 2007, recession, legal process outsourcing, pay structures, business development etc.
Over 400 partners and associates took part in the survey from law firms across the whole of the UK ranging from magic circle firms to regional firms. The survey was conducted from mid February to mid March 2010.

Only 7% of partners think an associates pay review should be a lockstep increase

Of associates that receive an element of variable pay, almost half (45%) are based on billable hours

One in six partners (16%) would rather make a specialist associate redundant than retrain them
